I know you’re expecting me to talk about the not-all-that-amusing practice of adding “in bed” to the end of a Chinese fortune cookie fortune. “You will meet a mysterious stranger” becomes “You will meet a mysterious stranger in bed”, and “You will enjoy great success” becomes “You will enjoy great success in bed”. Been there, done that. Besides, it doesn’t really work with the pictured fortune. “You will be rewarded for your efforts within the month in bed?” That’s kind of a mouthful. And speaking of which…

We were having lunch at a local Chinese restaurant. When we were done eating, the bill and the fortune cookies were brought to the table. Mine was unmemorable, and is long since forgotten. Jill, on the other hand, burst into peals of laughter upon reading hers. When she noticed the curious look on my face she slid the above fortune across the table. After I read it, she told me that she had mis-read it as “You will be rewarded for your efforts with your mouth.”
