For the first time we are taking a lead from our fellow bloggers and answering a list of questions that are circulating around the blogosphere. Here goes.
Jack’s Answers
1. Do you have “your” side of the bed? Which side?
My side of the bed is the left side (when facing the headboard). As far as I can tell this has been my side forever, in every bed that Jill and I have shared, with one exception: For a brief period after we moved into our home (two years into our relationship), we tried it the other way, but before long Jill suggested that we switch.
2. How old is your pillow and what condition is it in?
I use two pillows. Both are pretty old – at least a few years – but they fit my head so perfectly.
3. What is your favorite position to sleep in?
I generally sleep face-down, and may favor either my left or right side at differing times throughout the night. It’s extremely rare for me to sleep face-up.
4. How often do you change your sheets?
Every two weeks or so, unless there’s a compelling reason to change them sooner.
5. What helps you fall asleep when insomnia strikes?
I can’t remember the last time I suffered from insomnia. Usually I am so exhausted by the time I go to bed that I fall asleep quickly; additionally my eyes get tired from wearing contact lenses all day. If I happen to be in bed and not tired, I might read for awhile.
6. Does sex make you sleepy or energized?
Very energized. It doesn’t matter what time of day or what’s going on; if I’ve just had an orgasm, chances are that I feel I can take on the world. In fact, chances are that I want to have another one.
7. What is the minimum amount of sleep that you need to be functional the next day?
I try for a full eight but rarely get this much sleep. On a typical work day I manage between six and seven, though more often than I’d like to admit I’ve been functional on about four hours.
Jill’s Answers
1. Do you have “your” side of the bed? Which side?
I prefer to sleep on the right side of the bed. I’m not sure why I prefer the right side. I am left-handed, so I guess it would make more sense to sleep on the left side so I can more easily reach my nightstand using my dominant hand.
2. How old is your pillow and what condition is it in?
My pillows are several years old. At least one of my pillows has been in my life longer than Jack has.
3. What is your favorite position to sleep in?
I usually sleep on my back.
4. How often do you change your sheets?
Every couple weeks.
5. What helps you fall asleep when insomnia strikes?
I can’t think of anything offhand. Reading, I guess.
6. Does sex make you sleepy or energized?
If it’s just-before-bed sex, it usually relaxes me enough to go right to sleep. If it’s morning sex or afternoon sex, which we’ve been having a lot lately, it makes me feel energized.
7. What is the minimum amount of sleep that you need to be functional the next day?
At least six hours each night, or I will need a nap.
Change your sheets more; it is one of the simple pleasures of life. Clean Sheet Night is my favorite night of the week. When I am rich, I will have clean sheets every night.
